Hi Jared, thank you so much for the update. I met Aly when she was a student at Waterloo and I was staff. We worked on the UW Canada Day Celebrations together for a few years. I knew when I met her that I’d never forget this woman. I am among the many who am blessed to know her and have been impacted by what she has been able to teach us. You and Aly and her family are never far from my thoughts.

Thank you for posting. I heard about her blog about three years ago from the Brain Tumour Support Group in Edmonton and have been following it since. My husband was diagnosed with a brain tumour shortly before hers. Alyson’s blog and book and the video you posted have greatly inspired me and I am saddened to hear of her declining health. She is in my thoughts and prayers and I am motivated by her passion and dedication. Blessings ~

Jared, thank you for posting. I’m sure you know we are all sending you and AlyWo all the positive and loving thoughts we have.
I left the UW Legacy event committed to find ways to put in more than I take out. That – and memories of side-splitting emails about 90s boy bands I didn’t love when I met her! – is her gift to me. XO

My thoughts are with all of you. I went to school with Alyson for years, and she is one of those rare, beautiful souls whom you might be lucky enough to meet at least once in your lifetime. Our paths haven’t crossed often since highschool, and I feel very lucky to have grown up with her. Although I haven’t seen Alyson for years, I was saddened to hear about her deteriorating health, and loved reading her blog, which at times made me laugh so hard I was crying (ie: first hike up the mountain and fear of bears). She’s such a special person, it’s no wonder she’s touched so many lives. I hope she is comfortable, and I hope she knows she has given much more to this world at this point in her life than many people ever will. She’s truly an inspiration.

Hi Alyson

I was diagnosed with lung cancer on January 31 2007, and I firmly believe the body can recover with the right treatment and a caring family and friends. I also found a good sense of humour is also a great help. As my daughter in england has said many time “Keep a stiff upper lip and you can get through anything”.

I have obviously been living under a rock (not on Facebook!) and have only just learned about your journey with cancer. I have just read your posts and interviews online. I’m not at all surprised by your optimism and strength through this unthinkable, life-changing obstacle. I wish you only the very best in beating this horrible disease. You’re in my thoughts!

What a wonderful opportunity to be a part of the Alyson Woloshyn Legacy Leadership Award at the University of Waterloo. Last night’s celebration was one of joy for Alyson’s family and friends. It is a true honour for me to know Alyson and to have participated in this event. We so wish she could have been there.
